We came here on a recommendation from some locals. It was a great choice for lunch. Lobster BLT and potato salad was delicious, place was clean and the service friendly. Milkshakes were delicious and a dessert in itself.

Great restaurant and pub. It’s only open from June-Sept but if you are looking for excellent food, the best view in town, and friendly staff I would highly recommend this place. there is tons of space to sit outside on the decks with a water view. Entertainment on Friday nights draws a good crowd and great music. Prices are very reasonable for portion sizes of food. Lobster BLT is delcious.

The mussels and crab cakes were fantastic! Great view of the harbour. The kids had milkshakes which they loved – there were donuts on the straws! Great choice for a casual dinner.

Our Story
The Deckhouse is locally owned and operated by Barb Hunter, who spent many years working in British Columbia in the hospitality industry, where she was inspired and discovered her passion. In 1993, she returned home to Summerside to follow her dream of opening her own restaurant. Formally known as Fish Tales, the quaint two-storey restaurant on Spinnakers Landing first opened in 1991, and soon after Barb moved home, she and the two original owners collaborated. Barb occupied the upper level of the building and began establishing her own identity with a name, which would represent her current and future vision.
The tenants of the newly developed waterfront were required to incorporate the shipbuilding era theme into their businesses, so after spending many hours at the local library thumbing through nautical books, the Deckhouse was born! The first few years of business were quiet but the Deckhouse provided a welcoming atmosphere with live entertainment where family, friends and locals gathered. It focused on creating new experiences and positive customer service. Following the grand opening of the Confederation Bridge in 1997, we started to see an increase in visitors to our city by the sea and over the years, tourism has evolved. In 2010, the Deckhouse underwent some major renovations, expanding its kitchen, upstairs area, and waterfront deck to help accommodate the rapidly growing business.
Over the years, the business has developed and gone through many changes and challenges, creating inspiration for growth and motivation for progression. Despite the changes, our mission has been constant. We value our customers and want all our guests to enjoy our east coast hospitality, have a memorable PEI experience, and leave hoping to return someday.
